Annie with her ballerina friend

Pictures! You know, we have millions of pictures on our digital camera for me to share...However, tearing the house apart has not helped me find the cable that goes with the camera...

I'm not entirely sure Annie hasn't eaten it.

These pictures are from Nancy's camera. Lucy is one of Annie's two favorite friends in the world. We went to her dance recital last weekend. Annie loved the dancers, but her favorite parts were buying flowers for Lucy AND visiting Lucy in the dressing room with all of the other big girls at intermission.

Totally Unsolicited Plug for a Friend
So an amazingly strong friend of mine, who doesn't know I'm doing this (but who better read my blog and see it for herself!) has started a blog. She's a runner, and not just a jogger. She's training for a HALF-MARATHON, which really for her is probably just a stepping stone to climbing Mt. Everest. Her blog promises to be about her training, the nutrition it takes to train, and her (adorable) kids.

Go there: See Mommy Run.

Annie Chooses Daddy AGAIN
So it started last night with the whole "Prince Charming Daddy" and "Witch Mommy," but the love for Daddy doesn't end there.

Just now Annie came running in to me and yelled, "Don't talk about my father, Mommy! He's a genius!" Then she kept running down the hall.

Before I started berating Ike for feeding Annie lines to say, I remembered: Annie is watching Beauty & The Beast. She's quoting Belle.

Ooook.

Jake update: Jake still has a fever and is still not feeling well. He's napping now and resting most of the day. We're on day five, so tomorrow we'll be heading back to the doctor to see if there's anything else we can do... It'll be nice to have him back to normal!

Once Upon A Time...
So tonight while I was getting Annie dressed for bed, she said, "You tell me a story with Princess Annie and Prince Charming."

(She's so polite, notice the please and thank you? Me neither...)

I sat with her in her rocking chair and began, "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Annie. She had long red hair, beautiful blue eyes and a pretty smile. She lived in a castle with her pony and her dad: Prince Charming [and God willing, Daddy will be Prince Charming for years before she finds another prince]."

Annie lifted her hand, pointed at me and said, "And her Mommy Witch."

Her Mommy Witch??? What the...??

So I cackled and tossed her in my cauldron.

Er, I mean--I gently tucked her into bed.

Mommy Witch indeed.

Summer could be tough...
...on Mommy's brain...

So, it was with great foresight that my dad gave Jake books to read for the summer and a workbook to work through. If he had not, I fear I would forget everything I have learned in first grade...

Case in point: Jake missed school yesterday because of a throat infection (a nasty virus that's still got his fever up high) and I am apparently already out of practice.

He's writing a book right now (yes, he is, I'm not just bragging here) about Indiana Jones. He just looked up from his paper and asked, "Mom, how do you spell 'building?'"

"B-U-I..."

"Ok, I got it. What's next?"

"Uhh...B-U-I..."

Well, obviously I remembered eventually. But the point is this: if Jake only missed one day of school and I'm forgetting how to spell "building," what will I forget by August??

Do they make workbooks for moms?

Annie chooses Mommy over Art
Apparently I need more sleep. (Duh. I'm a mom.) This morning I woke up to hear Annie calling out for the Museum of Modern Art.

"Weird," I thought as I lay in bed. "How does she know that acronym?"

Right. So it took a good 10 minutes before I realized my daughter was not calling out "MOMA! MOMA!"

"Momma! Momma!" Of course. She was calling for me.

So there, Jackson Pollack. She loves me better.
------------------------------------------------------------------

You may have noticed I haven't blogged in awhile. It's not that things haven't been happening. It's that my family has been moving at such a rapid pace that I can't sit down to write about it. But Caitlin is in Spain and Ireland for the summer, so I told her I'd blog to keep her up to date on the kids.

Soon I'll have pictures on here again. 4 months worth...get ready...

In the meantime, Jake is home sick for the day with a 103.1 degree fever. We're waiting for the pediatrician's office to open...something I feel like I spend a lot of my life doing...
