Jake Grows Up

So this evening when Jake came home from Cub Scout Camp, he was a totally different boy. I don't know if it's the haircut (his new buzz cut makes him look at least 8) or the fact that Ike makes the boys march two-by-two all day at Boot Camp--er, I mean, Boy Scout Camp--but Jake came home completely grown up.

First he told Annie he missed her (even after she said she didn't miss him). Then he got two swords and asked her to play with him. Play with him??? Not just beg to play until he finally slams his bedroom door in her face?? Then when I asked him to wash his hands for dinner, he took Annie to the bathroom to help her wash her hands too!

The icing on the cake happened just a few minutes ago when he read Annie's bedtime story to her, despite the fact that it was Cinderella. He then agreed to dance with her when Cinderella got to the ball and tried to teach Annie how to dance... Of course, he paused while dancing and said to me, "I hope no one can see this. And don't videotape it."

He didn't say not to blog about it, so...

The most important thing about Jake's day at camp: he earned his Junior Marksman's Badge!! He had to score a 35 on the target (shooting the BB gun), and he scored a 43!! Woohoo!
