Okay, after spending the early afternoon there, I still don't know what the place is called. Emerald Pointe? Wet & Wild? I don't know, it's a PR nightmare, I would imagine...
We took our first of many trips to Wet & Wild (I'll just go back and forth on the name) today! Thanks to our generous families (THANK YOU!), we were able to get season passes for all of us. I promised them I'd have pictures, and I still promise I will, but not from today. We realized as we were packing to go that our camera might not do well in water...duh. We'll plan ahead another time and take a disposable waterproof camera.
So, our day. It was wonderful! We got there only 45 minutes later than we'd planned, but it still wasn't too hot or crowded. We split up almost immediately, with Jake and Ike off to explore bigger kid area while Annie and I waded in the baby pool. Even the baby pool was awesome, however, as there were slides she was big enough to go down, a submarine to explore, swings, etc. Annie was actually a little nervous about the water and had me hold her quite a bit as she got used to it. I expect that by the end of the summer, she'll be the expert toddler at the water park.
We met back up to do the lazy river, which for some reason is difficult for me to master. I know, I know, sit in an inner tube, let the water carry you. It should be brainless. For some reason, I can't figure out how to get in the inner tubes. Ike laughed at me today, but I can't imagine the teasing I would have endured had he remembered that I had the same trouble in the lazy river at Carowinds when Jake was 5... I think it's the fact that I've got a kid in the tube with me. I'm convinced that it would be easier for me to relax and be lazy by myself...
...I suppose that's true for all moms...
Jake found a medium-sized water slide that he took turns riding with us while Other Parent hung out with Annie. Then we found our way to the wave pool. WOW, Annie loved the wave pool. I mean, granted, we didn't go in past her knees...but regardless, every time she saw a wave coming (over a football field away from us), she'd jump up and yell, "Here comes the wave, Mommy!! Hold me!!" Then she'd grab me and practically shimmy up my leg until the water went back down (from up to her belly button). Don't worry, she wasn't scared. It was all part of her game. She spent her time when the waves weren't coming flipping from her front to her back: those life jackets are FUN. Ike and Jake body surfed a few of the waves, jumped a few, then were ready for lunch.
At lunch we decided we'd have enough for one day. We spent three hours at the park in the hot sun, so we headed home just after 2. We were all worn out, but don't worry. We'll be back there again Thursday.
I found myself thinking the whole time we were at Emerald Pointe about Jon & Kate (Plus 8). How in the world would they do a water park with all of those kids??
To Caitlin: I'm sorry I haven't updated recently! Mom told me you pointed that out on the phone. I hope you're having an amazing time and I'm wondering how different you feel now that you're 20. :) Hey, maybe if you'd let me be your Facebook friend, we could keep in touch better...

Wait, I have the answer to your lazy river tube issue! Its that we're so short, it causes issues that other people just don't understand. Atleast thats the excuse I'm using :)
Oh, btw, can you tell that I'm playing catch up (backwards, lol) on your blog because I SUCK as a friend and haven't been keeping up? Can you forgive me?
