Wal-Mart Rant AGAIN
I have much to say about life in general, but it's overwhelming (in good ways), so it needs to wait until my family has clean dishes and clothes. But in the meantime, check this out, oh ye WalMart shoppers. I'm not really trying to change minds, but just to make us all aware that, indeed, Satan lives at WalMart.

Full article

Excerpt:
Our earlier research into Wal-Mart's organic initiative has also uncovered other disturbing moves. They are turning to factory-farms for their organic dairy products. This move is extremely contentious right now in the booming organic dairy industry - where demand already outstrips supply by an estimated 10%. Family dairies, that have built the organic dairy biz, are facing intense pressure and the likely demise of their family farms should the industrial scale operations that confine thousands of cows in feedlot conditions be allowed to grow. Wal-Mart has chosen to side with this unseemly side of the business.

The company has also elected to turn to China for importing a number of organic ingredients. The Cornucopia Institute is very concerned about this move. In particular, there are several outstanding issues related to the integrity of the Chinese organic certification process. The USDA has yet to even make a site visit to the country to examine what organic actually means in China. And is transporting organic food half-way around the planet really your idea of sustainability?

Wal-Mart could choose to work with domestic producers to grow our own organic economy, but at this time, they don't seem interested.

[ Becky's note: Because they don't care about anything but profit. They certainly don't care about you or your health or your children or your family or the well-being of the local economy.]

I'm on board with you. I also hate Wal-Mart. I've heard bad things about their business practices and treatment of employees. I typically dread entering Wal-Mart, and for one reason or another, I almost always walk out angry, disappointed, defeated, disturbed, etc.

It's ironic, I listen to the Matt & Ramona radio show out of Charlotte while at work, and right now they're discussing Wal-Mart and Target and who will probably win out this holiday season. One person just called in and said she drives 30 miles to avoid Wal-Mart and go to Target instead. She said she walks out of Wal-Mart feeling she needs a shower.

So far, the vote is 4 to 3 in favor of Target. The person who just called in to break the tie said she feels she has to hose down anything she buys from Wal-Mart. (I mostly just hate the low-quality products and long lines; what's up with Wal-Mart making people feel dirty?)

Random Fact: They're discussing dept. store myths right now, and it is not true that Target is owned by the French.

You're play-by-play radio show commentary brought to you by the letters CTW.

I used to shop at Wal-Mart all the time but I just hate going to one now. It just seems like this store is just getting worse and worse. I am glad the media is bringing the light to what a crappy chain this is as far as their treatment of employees and the lengths they will go to to save a buck! Yeahh Target!!! Booo Walmart!

Ok Becky, you almost have me convinced to boycott Walmart. Now get Target to bring me a SuperTarget and I'll be sold ;-)

I am seriously mad that we don't have a Target at all though. This is just wrong!
