I've always felt like baby food is a little bit of a rip-off. It's not super-expensive by any means, especially when you catch sales and coupons. But it seems like it should be so easy to just make your own food for a baby. I mean, the goal here is to get the kid to eat like normal people eventually, right?
Well, tonight I finally did it. I made my own baby food! It was cheaper and took about 15 minutes. I probably made enough for 5 meals.
I made Annie oatmeal and peaches. I cooked the oatmeal, blanched the peaches to peel and soften them, cut up the peaches, then pureed it all. I tasted it...and if I were a baby, I'd like it. As it is, I'd rather add a little sugar. Or just have a waffle.
At any rate, Annie will have a homemade meal in the morning. Next I think I'll puree the plums I got yesterday at the farmer's market...

That's great! I think it is healther too. At least you know what is in what you are feeding her! And she is getting it fresh.
I agree with Tracy, this way you know what's really in there and there's no preservatives or anything. I started my girls on "table food" pretty early and just mashed everything up really good and they ate that a lot better than store bought baby food.
